Hey there beauties! Today, I wanted to share with you something that is a little out of my horizons here on my blog; a show review. If you are younger, I am sure this is a show you have been hearing about or maybe even have seen yourself. I highly recommend it, by the way!

13 Reasons Why is a show that was released on Netflix on April 1. It follows the book that you can purchase at Target, which I have not read, but I know many that have. Long story short, the show is mainly about Hannah Baker, who was a 16 year old girl that commits suicide due to 13 people in her life that drew her to that point. She goes through almost all of the obstacles that every teenage girl must go through, especially in today’s society. In this post, I am going to be honest about how I feel on the decisions that Hannah made and the thoughts that she had. If you have read the book or watched the show, let me know what you think about it all down below!
First off, I have always thought that people who kill themselves are the most selfish people on the planet. Yes, if you kill yourself, all of YOUR problems go away, but you then cause so many more problems within your family, friends, and community. How dare you make your parents feel that way, especially when they loved you more than anything. That is the part that confuses me the most about Hannah Baker. She grew up in a nice neighborhood, with a mom and a dad that loved her more than themselves. Yes, she had shitty friends in high school, but didn’t we all?
Hannah Baker went though friends as fast as I did, having to endure all of the shit talk and lies that spread like wild fire. Isn’t that what high school is all about? Please, tell me of one person that never had a lie or rumor spread about her; Mean Girls is real people! High school is not only the crappiest place on earth, but it is almost one of the biggest parts of life that you must endure and learn so much from. High school shapes who you will be as person and it makes you so much stronger, at that.
Another part of the show that confused me most was the psycho mood swings that Hannah had: all of the crazy thoughts and rude outbursts that she made towards her classmates when they did just normal teenage stuff. The show had an amazing way of making you feel such great and strong feelings towards the characters and then BAM, slams you off guard and shows you the real, raw side of that person. All throughout the show, my feelings towards the characters got all switched around in each episode I watched. I have to say, though, after watching the show, my favorite characters by far are Justin, Clay, and Tony.
Season 1 leaves you in complete anxiety, with your heart racing about what season two will bring, if they even decide to release another season. I feel that they should and I also feel that every teenage kid should watch 13 Reasons Why. Not only is it such an amazing show that grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go all thought out the 13 episodes, but it also gives insight on high school and shows you how hard things that one may say or do affects the ones around them. All 13 people that were chosen all made mistakes, but I am still pondering the question of “was it really that bad that Hannah had to commit suicide?”
Now, I totally see why number 12, Bryce Walker, could have caused her life to seriously fall into shambles (I won’t tell you the terrible things he did; watch for yourself!), but I also know that you CAN work through any/everything in your life and that life IS worth it. High school is only 4 years of your life and honestly really does fly by. Work it out, don’t let the things other people say bring you down, and just remember that it is high school and everyone around you is in the same boat you are; completely immature and all making mistakes while learning at the same time.
